THE MICROWAVE
In 1946 Percy Spencer, working on the company's radar "Raytheon", saw that the chocolate bar that he had in his pocket was melting while he was in front of a magnetron, a device that converts electrical energy into electric microwaves.
It seems fascinating and he wanted to do
a few more tests to understand what had happened. Then he put a pan with an
egg and a bowl of popcorn near the generator. After that, Spencer found that the
egg was cooked and that
the popcorn had popped.
Finally he had discovered that exposure
to low intensity microwave heated
food. At the last he created the
first microwave in the United
States and began selling
in 1947.
